For this assignment, I decided to create a Google Earth tour paired with site photos. I feel that this tour gives a much better impression of the site and it's surroundings than photos alone. I found that one of the biggest take-aways from this exercise, was the clash of vacant, industrial, and residential uses that seem to coalesce around the site I selected. Its location on the urban fringe will make this site an interesting study in gentrification and economic development. Current development inertia dictates that this site fall in line with the steadily approaching condo and loft developments moving in from the south. However, in the current economic climate, would it be more practical to create live-work or light industrial office space? These questions were swirling about in my mind as I walked this site and tried to get a feel for it's character. I hope this Google Earth tour can convey at least some of that...
